Mudslide in Peguy Ville

Mudslide in Peguy Ville

MMRC Haiti responded to a tragic mudslide in Puguy Ville last night.  At least five houses were submerged with residents trapped inside.  LP and his team spent 12 hours repelling, searching and digging with only their hands in frantic attempts to recover survivors.
Exhausted, LP spoke with me this morning and sent the following note:
So in total we found 3 dead. A mom holding her baby and digging two more feet, another baby. I tied off at the top of the slide, repelled down looking and yelling into every pile of house. Checking how stable each was ahead of Howard and Nate…. They’d come down behind me and go through more. After we went up doing it again and again.  At daylight we found two girls with injuries. One a huge gash across her knee and with a good blow to the back of her head. The other with badly hurt leg and had some bumps and scratches. I called Dr. Toni and drove them both into Medishare. Goodnight.
LP and his team will sleep a few hours and return to the scene to continue with any recovery efforts.
